About Us
OUR STORY
Established in 1960 by the visionary Tun V.T. Sambanthan, former President of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) and Minister of Works, Posts, and Telecommunications, the National Land Finance Cooperative Society (NLFCS) was founded to address critical socio-economic challenges that arose from the fragmentation of estates following Malaysia’s independence.
Inspired by the global success of Co-operative movements and driven by strong humanitarian values, NLFCS has grown significantly under the strategic leadership of Tan Sri K.R. Somasundram, our current Chairman. Today, the society successfully manages 19 estates spanning 35,000 acres, with diversified investments in palm oil production, real estate, and financial services.
LEADERSHIP & LEGACY
Under the leadership of Tan Sri K.R. Somasundram, NLFCS continues to honor and realize the pioneering vision set forth by Tun V.T. Sambanthan. Our leadership team has spearheaded transformative initiatives, strategic acquisitions, and innovative incentives aimed at maximizing benefits for our members and enhancing our societal impact.
Our legacy is strengthened by our commitment to culture and education, exemplified by the establishment of the Tan Sri K.R. Soma Arts & Cultural Foundation and the Language & Literary Foundation. These foundations represent our ongoing dedication to cultural enrichment and the empowerment of local communities.
